These are teen vaping incident statistics from Frederick County Public Schools in the past few years. As seen in the graph, vaping is on the rise and is sadly growing at an exponential rate. The increase was gradual from 2017 to 2021, but has grown excessively more since then.
While vapes do not produce fumes, the nicotine that you are vaping is still going around in the air damaging others, just like second-hand smoke.
Vaping has been shown to increase health risks in teenagers.
The nicotine in vapes is a carcinogen.
A carcinogen is a chemical that promotes cancer cell growth
Vape aerosol is NOT what you think it is, its not water vapor it contains many different ingredients and chemicals.
Vapes contain the same chemicals that are in home cleaning products, that you need to go to poison control if ingested. Think about if every time you vaped, you were just drinking or eating cleaning products, nail polish remover, weed killer and bug spray.
The nicotine in some vapes are sometimes 50 times the amount in a cigarette. 1 vape=50 cigarettes, and cigarettes are supposedly worse for you.
While they are advertised as a way to stop smoking, they are not a real way to stop, and sometimes can be just as bad.
Coughing.
Shortness of breath.
Eye irritation.
Headaches.
Dry and irritated throat.
Nausea.
Asthma
Vaping can increase chances of contracting asthma, and other lung related problems. It can also worsen your conditions that you already have.
Lung Scarring
Vaping can cause Bronchiolitis obliterans or "popcorn lung". This is irreversible damage to your lungs, which can impact your ability to breath, hindering your bodies and brains ability focus and to do activities.
Organ Damage
Nicotine and other substances in e-liquid can damage your heart and brain, your most vital organs. Also, if you are using a nicotine vape, you are especially in danger, because it can raise your blood pressure, slow your brain development, and narrow your arteries
COPD
COPD is when your airways are obstructed with inflammation and scarring. This is also irreversible, so if you stop vaping now, you can save yourself in the very near future.
Evali
Evali is a very serious vape-caused disease that causes widespread pain and damage to your lungs, and it causes shortness of breath, coughing, and chest pain. This can be very damaging for the rest of your life, and scientists do not know if it is reversible. Additionally, it can be fatal if you choose not to stop.
Non-nicotine Vapes
Even non-nicotine vapes contain small amounts of nicotine, and nicotine vapes are just as bad as smoking. This just shows that the producer of these vapes is trying to make you make poor decisions.
Explosions
Yes, this is correct. There have been incidents where the vape battery has exploded causing major damage and burns to the face and other parts of the body.
Cancer
Some of the ingredients in the vaping fluids contain chemicals that have been studied and proven to cause cancer. Every time you vape, you are taking weeks, months, and even years off of your life.
